Four men charged in armed home invasion in Maywood
Four men were charged this month in a Maywood armed home invasion that occurred last November, officials said on Thursday.
Arrests were made on Aug. 17 of Derick De La Rosa, 19, of the Bronx, Ismael Carrasco-De La Rosa, 32, of Yonkers, Joaquin Portorreal-Garcia, 21, of the Bronx, and Francisco Rojas Corporan, 29, of Perth Amboy.
According to official police documents, the crime took place on Nov. 11, 2022, when local police received a 911 call reporting a home invasion to a Terrance Avenue, Maywood address. Victims recalled three men wearing masks breaking into the house.
The suspects were armed with handguns and demanded money and jewelry, and made off $32,000, a watch and a cellphone, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Surveillance video later showed three people entering and exiting the home in addition to a small black SUV fleeing the scene. This vehicle was found registered to Derick De La Rosa, and phone records revealed the four suspects present at the home invasion while in contact with one another, the affidavit stated.
The Maywood Police Department worked alongside the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office in a joint investigation to identify and charge the suspects. Arrest warrants were executed in Perth Amboy, NJ; the Bronx and Yonkers.
All four men face numerous charges, including conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, theft and aggravated assault by pointing a firearm. Derick De La Rosa was additionally charged with hindering apprehension.
